i think the signing of T.O. is going to really help the Bengals out this year. for 2 million + performace bonuses he's a steal. Its going to load the Bengals up for a high powered passing attack something they desperetely needed last year. i can't wait. i hope the Bengals can keep all the egos down.

That remains to be seen. The volatile T.O. could help or hinder the team. What I can say is that the Bengals wasted a second round draft pick on Jerome Simpson a few years back because we now know he will be gone.

Terrell has promised me that he will be a good little Bengal, not cause any problems, and actually catch the balls thrown at him. That's good enough for me, Mr. Dad, sir.

Thanks for pointing out the obvious, Segman.

Terrell Owens is a great receiver. His ego can get bloated as anyone that follows sports would know by now. However, the overall picture is this.

Terrell Owens WANTED to come to the Bengals. Sure, he was looking for about 6 mil a year. However, when the Bengals offered him the now settled deal, he didn't back off. Now, with that being said, he either took the money because too many others weren't biting on the money he was looking for or he DID really want to play with the Bengals and wants to be a winner on a winning team. Is there baggage? Yes. Can Carson Palmer and Ochocinco control Owens? Yes.

So, what the Bengals got was a 6 time pro bowler and a prolific receiver for 2 mil with up to 2 mil more for performance bonuses. I think that's a deal you can't pass up.

The Bengals have been searching for two prolific receivers since Hushmanzadeh left. They now have that on paper. Don't forget that now with these two it opens up Caldwell who is coming off a great personal season and a season coaches can trust in his abilities. All of this coming on the wings of yet another rough season. They don't play any/many mediocre QB's this season. They play good to great QB's overall this season. They will need to stretch the field. And, by stretching the field you HAVE to start with the run and then pass with ferver.

Don't even get me started the much improved defense for the Bengals. This year looks optimistic for the Bengals. What will be the fence they have to jump is the fact that their competition is much greater this year than the past 3.

And THAT'S how sports are done.

GO BENGALS!

"Can Carson Palmer and Ochocinco control Owens? Yes.'

not sure if I agree with that conclusion. Nobody has been able to "control" TO. That is why nobody wants him even with all his superhuman ability.

With the log jam at that position right now, Caldwell might start the season as the #5 WR

cool.gif I don't think they expect Antonio Bryant to be ready to play for awhile. As much as I am a Shipley fan, the Bengals tend to "redshirt" rookies on offense. Caldwell should get a good opportunity to find the field.

A wealth of receivers is the given, a healthy Palmer arm is the unknown.

cool.gif Very true Supa. Also have to factor in the construction of this offensive line. Andrew Whitworth at LT requires either a blocking TE or FB assistance against 3-4 edge rushing OLB's and the entire AFC North runs a 3-4. On passing downs going with 5 eligible receivers and not having a 6th blocker against Lamar Woodley, Terrell Suggs or James Harrison could get ugly.

The Bengals O-line is constructed to run the ball with Whit and Andre Smith at the OT spots. I love Whit but I love him more as an interior O-lineman than as a LT.
