Hoffman Family Benefit Raises Money for Medical Bills

This Super Bowl Sunday locals from around the tri-state area will gather to watch the big game and help a family in need. The Hoffman Family Benefit will be held on February 7th, 2010 at Molloy’s on the Green, 10 Enfield St. Cincinnati, OH 45218. Proceeds from the event will help the Hoffman Family:

Forest Park residents Matt and Dora Hoffman have been together since 1999. They had their first child, Mason Reed, in 2004; Kalissa Renee followed in 2006 and Shayla Rose was born in 2009. Shayla was born with a port wine stain on her face where a tumor grew. Shayla had the tumor removed at Children’s Hospital when she was four months old and had additional surgery on January 19th. Matt has been sick since April and recently found out that his numerous medical problems are caused by tumors in his optic nerve and Diabetes Insipidus (pituitary problems). Matt had brain surgery January 5th at University Hospital and the tumor could not be removed without him losing his sight. He is currently preparing for radiation, new medications and appointments with an Endocrinologist. Matt has lost his job, medical bills are mounting, and the Hoffman family is asking for your help this Super Bowl.

“I’ve known the family for a long time,” said co-organizer Rex Vining, “and it would really be something to see the community come out and rally around this family in their time of need. Plus it should be a good time.”

Doors for the event open at 5 p.m. Tickets cost $25 in advance, $30 at the door. For ticket info e-mail dorahoffman@gmail.com. Ticket price includes a fully-stocked chili bar (vegetarian and meat), chips, pretzels, vegetable and cheese trays, pop, coffee, and beer (must be 21 years of age). There will also be a cash bar for those who want wine or liquor.

In addition to the food and refreshments, there will be Super Bowl Squares (sold from 5 p.m. until coin toss), Split-the-Pot, raffle prizes announced at half time (oil changes, T-shirts, a year of free Panera bagels, PF Chang’s Olive Garden, etc.), and a silent auction (car tint from Creative Auto Concepts, $400 worth of rims from Wheel Pros, a car detailing from Johnny V’s, etc.).

“We really hope everyone gets a chance to come out, and we appreciate all of the support we’re receiving from the community,” said Dora Hoffman.

If you can not make it they are also accepting donations at any 5/3 Bank under
HOFFMAN FAMILY BENEFIT Acct # 7025202156.

Thanks Uncle for sharing... I won't be able to afford to go to the benefit but if I can I will donate some monies.

You know maybe I should save this for another post... but why really? It is a shame that this family cannot go downtown and apply for benefits and get coverage for thier family. It seems they have been a productive part of America, yet we can't help them. No, they have to wait til they lose everything? But one who chooses to be P*ss poor productive can get foodies, medical, and even some money. aaargh!

AND... we can send a 100 million dollars to Haiti? Don't get me wrong I feel sorry for what happened to the Haitians; and I wouldn't wish it on anyone; however, there are plenty of people donating out of their own pockets... don't decide for me where my money will go when we have situations like this in our own Country.

It is a shame. So, yes if I have the money I will forward it to the Hoffman family and I would encourage anyone else to do the same. Thanks again Uncle.

To laugh often and much; To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends; To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others; To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition; To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived. This is to have succeeded.
